Chilando Ministry Doctrinal Statement
- I believe that the King James Bible is the Word of God and that God has preserved this Bible for the English speaking people. Therefore, I use only the King James Bible in English.
- I believe that a missionary is accountable to his sending church.
- I believe that Salvation is by grace through Faith without any admixture of works. This salvation comes when a person believes (depends on the fact) that Jesus died for them and in their place, that Jesus rose from the dead, and they confess this belief with their mouth.
- I believe that “the Church” is the Local Independent New Testament Baptist Church. We do not believe in an invisible universal body of baptized believers called “the Church.” The Bible speaks of the church (ekklesia) as a single local assembly (congregation) 80 times, and as an institution (plural) 35 times. In the same way, I can speak of my marriage (or your marriage), or I can speak of marriage as an institution, this is how we believe the Bible speaks of the church. But the “universal church” has never congregated or assembled, therefore making the application of the Biblical word “church” (ekklesia) to all believers is incorrect. But, a kingdom can be universal (The Kingdom of God includes all born-again people living - Saints).
- This local church has a Pastor, Deacons (as needed), and services, and also observes the ordinances of Baptism and the Lords Supper. This is the institution Jesus started (Luke 6:12-16, 1Cor12:28, Eph 2:20), and promised it would never be defeated (Matthew 16:18). Jesus then commissioned the church in Matthew 28:18-20 and Acts 1:8 when He gave the Church the instructions to go win them, baptize them, and teach them. It was this institution that was empowered on the day of Pentecost (Acts1:8, & Acts 2).
- I believe that Christ is the head of each church, and the Pastor is the shepherd (leader) of the church under Christ. The Pastor is also accountable to Christ, and to the members of the local church in all that he teaches and does (1Timothy 3:1-7). The Deacons are servants to the body of the church to be used as necessary, and are to be men of honor and leadership. The deacons are also accountable to the Pastor and to the members of the local church (1Timothy 3:8-13).
- I believe that Baptism is one of the ordinances of the Local Church. The formula is this: born again people are baptized by immersion by the authority of the Church. We will not accept baptism from a church that we do not believe is a scriptural church. Therefore, we will only accept Baptist Baptism from sister Baptist Churches.
- I believe in closed communion. Only the members of that local church can participate in this local church ordinance.
- I believe that people are accountable to the local church of which they are a member. I believe within the local church or it’s outreach ministries that a woman is not to hold a position of leadership over a man (1 Timothy 2:12). Within the Local Church.
- I believe God can use anyone in ministry regardless of their past, but I do not believe a divorced person can hold the position of Pastor (Missionary/Pastor), Evangelist, or Deacon. I Timothy 3
- I believe that music should always bring honor and glory to the Saviour. I believe that the modern, so-called Gospel Rock has no place in the Church. I believe music is one of our ways of praising God. Therefore, we must use music that honors Him and His character.
